Muffin

Hi, my name is Ashleigh Miller. Ash for short. I once had a Pinto called Muffin. He was absolutely beautiful. He was a breeze to tack up, he never bit, bucked or ran away when I tried to catch him in the paddock. Before I tell you the story of Muffin, let me warn you, it is the saddest story ever! We were at Pony Club and we were doing a jump race. Muffin and I were approaching the last jump when a large flock of birds flew down in front of us. Muffin freaked and stopped at the jump. I flew out of the saddle and over the jump. I ended up paralized and I'm now in a wheelchair. I was never able to ride again. But i still kept Muffin. One day, we got this special saddle so I COULD ride! Being back in the saddle was like someone had given my wings and had told me to fly. We were on a trail with my Dad and a goanna on a tree quickly ran up it. Muffin freaked and bolted. There was a huge log up ahead. I couldn't control Muffin, he leapt over it but there was a ditch on the other side and the next thing i knew, there was a snap like a gunshot, a piercing whinny, and I lay on the ground next to a heavily breathing pony. We got the vet round and she said that he had broken his leg in 4 places. I was sooo sad! The next day, I wheeled out to the paddock to give Muffin his brekky. But he wasn't there! I asked Dad where he was. "The vet came last night," he said. "We had to put him down ..." I never got to say goodbye to him! I will love Muffin for the rest of my life! I LOVE YOU MUFFIN!!! I can't wait to see him when I'm heaven. To all you girls out there, love your horse or pony, coz you never know when you're gonna loose them. ASH xxx
