Capricorn Coast Classic
The 4th inaugural Capricorn Coast Classic has been taken out by Diamond Montana Rocket and PJ Symes of Blackwater. PJ and the Rocket blitzed the field to take out all 3 rounds and the average, from closest rival Lethal Whiskas and junior competitor Sarah Morgan. 3rd place went to SNG Rocs Peter Pan and Amy Bean or Morinish, another of the Capricorn Circuit's junior members. 4th place went to Crack of Dawn Docs Hi and Rae-Etta Harrison of Cloncurry.
The ABHA Qld Saddle Series was a tussle right to the end with Tuthaside Golden Gun and Lesley Moore coming into the CC Classic with a strong lead after her win at the Cloncurry Classic. However, she could not hold her position with PJ and the Rocket claiming the total 400 points up for grabs at Rocky.

Qld Saddle Series
The 2010 ABHA Qld Saddle Series has kicked off in fine form at Cloncurry with the staging of the first annual Cloncurry Classic on June 5th. 10 Entrants contested the Classic event with the winner being "Tuthaside Golden Gun" ridden by Lesley Moore. Lesley took out both rounds and the average to walk away with the title. 2nd went to Rae-etta Harrison and "Cool Cheap" who finished 4th in the first round and 2nd in the second round. 3rd place went to Fiona Whinsper and "Scarlett".
The Saddle Series now moves to Rockhampton on July 18th for the final and deciding round. With the change of ownership of the Gracemere Saleyards, this year the indoor arena will not be available. It was originally thought that the venue would still be available for the Classic however that is now not the case and negotiations are underway to find a suitable alternative. Details will be posted as soon as they become available.

The Australian Barrel Horse Association (ABHA) was formed in Tamworth in 1996 by three dedicated horsewomen Janette Belscher, Shona Tribe & Susan Keenan, with the goal of expanding their sport from the Rodeo arena to stand-alone events.
The ABHA Capricorn Circuit was formed in 2003, by Judy Matotek, Liz O'Halloran & Margaret O'Brien, with the vision of growing Barrel Racing in Central Queensland in the same fashion as the head body had done in NSW. This has been very successfully achieved with the group heading into its 7th consecutive year in 2010.From the first event held at Quarter Park Pink Lily, with a small number of competitors, the ABHA Capricorn Circuit has seen an increase of 585% in its Open ranks and an increase of 666% in the Junior ranks.
The enthusiasm and commitment of our local horse people, and in particular the Juniors, is inspiring and the ABHA Capricorn Circuit is continuing to achieve its goal of providing events at which the local members of the ABHA can compete.
